SIOUXSIE Q: Luminary Activist Collaborates with Elevate to Educate Voters
(Seattle, WA) ELEVATE, presented by Streamate, is proud to announce its latest collaboration with internationally acclaimed writer, director, producer, and luminary in the realm of sex work and adult industry activism, Siouxsie Q. This October, SIOUXSIE Q x Elevate will feature a “Voting101” Q&A series sharing essential voter information about the upcoming US general election on November 5th. Talking points will include who is eligible to vote, how to check voter registration, current voting methods, and tips for a smooth voting experience. Additionally, Siouxsie will share insights on what’s currently at stake for our community in this election and what issues we should be aware of.
An Elevate rep lauded the partnership: "We are truly honored to be collaborating with Siouxsie Q, a fearless powerhouse who’s been such an influential voice for sex workers and the adult industry and has not hesitated to answer the call when representation was needed most. We’re grateful to Siouxsie for dedicating her time to sharing critical information with voters both in and adjacent to our community ahead of such a pivotal election."
The SIOUXSIE Q x Elevate collaboration will also feature an exclusive interview conducted by Streamate's Vanessa Eve. Siouxsie shares insights into her growing-up years in this candid conversation, citing her proud familial lineage of activists. “My mother is an activist. My grandfather was an activist in our tribal community. I’m a Modoc woman…it’s literally just in my blood to dissent and to critique and to fight for the survival of people who are living within this American empire.”
Siouxsie’s notable contributions to service in advocacy and activism include leadership positions at the ACLU of Southern California, the Free Speech Coalition, the Adult Performer Advocacy Committee (APAC), and the Performer Availability Screening Service (PASS). In 2016, Siouxsie assisted in organizing a winning grassroots campaign opposing California’s Prop 60 ballot measure (aka Condoms in Pornographic Film), called “NO Prop 60,” which if passed, would’ve resulted in detrimental impacts to the adult media industry and performers. During the campaign, over 200 porn performers took to the streets of Hollywood to protest the ballot measure and raise public awareness over the faulty piece of legislation. The “NO Prop 60” campaign ultimately triumphed, and over 1 million votes blocked the measure despite being outspent 10-to-1.
Siouxsie’s passion for the democratic process was exemplified in 2018, and again in 2020, for the “Storm the Vote” campaign in partnership with adult actress and director, Stormy Daniels. The nationwide initiative aimed at uplifting the adult industry and its supporters as a powerful voting block.
For the United States 2024 general election, Siouxsie is returning to the campaign trail to host a series of nonpartisan voter symposiums around the United States via her “Hot2Vote” campaign, which strives to educate and inspire ambivalent and first-time voters to participate in the democratic process.
"I am so grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with Elevate. They are doing amazing and critical work to uplift performers who use their platforms to make a difference. I truly wish there were more programs that provided resources for those working to make our industry and world a better place for everyone in our community and beyond. There's so much work to be done, and I am truly honored to work in collaboration with Elevate and Streamate to amplify the message of how important it is for adult industry professionals to participate and let their voices be heard during every state, local, and federal election in which they can vote. Thank you so much to everyone who made this possible, especially the incomparable Vanessa Eve."
